In this blog we are going to go over why a dock seal is so important for reducing contamination… Why Dock Seals Are Needed? There are many different ways that contamination can take place however the most common method is through the air when particles move from an area of high concertation to a low concentration. Most of the time contamination is used when food and produce is the topic of conversation since food stock that has been contaminated is often unfit for selling, making it even more vital to reduce it taking place. Warehouse Doors Many warehouses will have doors that are fit to a specific height and width that lorries able to reverse into perfectly. This way the lorry can be unloaded then drive away very easily. For many businesses this method of operating is very suffice yet on the other hand this set up does not provide a perfect seal so those handling food produce would risk contamination taking place. Flap Dock Shelters With the idea of food in mind, warehouses and loading bay equipment can actually be built/specialised in order to load and unload perishable items correctly. This type of set up will require a suitable dock seal to be put in place so that the risk of contamination is reduced significantly and during the process, flaps sit in the front of the loading dock and attach to the lorry as it reverses, creating a vacuum seal. The dock seal that a company chooses to operate with depends upon the stock that they are warehousing. After all, certain items require specific measures when it comes to reducing contamination.
