Everything You Need to Know About Bollards

Here at ABC Industrial we like to think that bollards are one of our main areas of expertise. After all, there is more to them than what meets the eye and this can often cause people to overlook their benefits. In order to ensure that our customers make an informed and educated decision about the security of their land we have decided to use this blog in order to let our readers know why bollards aren’t something to overlook. Read on to find out everything you need to know… Types Removable: Removeable bollards slide into a receiver and are padlocked into place which makes them easy to remove if they need to be taken away in order to allow for heavy pedestrian or vehicle traffic. Retractable: Instead of taking away a bollard, you can have them lowered into the ground with the technology of retractable bollards. Collapsible: Using hinges to allow the bollard to lie on the road or pavement, collapsible bollards are great when temporary access is required to access an area. Security: Made from high impact concrete and metal, security bollards are in place in order to control vehicles and prevent them from mounting the curb. Decorative: Bollards that are installed in order to enhance a landscape are decorative and often involve intricate designs however they can also be fitted with security in mind to serve a dual purpose. Parking Control Bollards are often put in place in order to control where vehicle are allowed to park. After all, it is difficult to mount a curb when a bollard is in the way. With this said, it is not uncommon to find bollards in city centres where clear roads are necessary in order to keep traffic moving as well as outside warehouses to ensure that the area remains clear to allow for incoming deliveries. Pedestrian Safety Over the years the number of terror attacks involving pedestrians and cars has been steadily increasing and so many cities have started to installed bollards in busy areas in order to prevent vehicles from accessing the areas, therefore securing pedestrian safety. For example, the London government invested in bollards and barriers on Westminster bridge following the 2017 terrorist attack. When it comes to all things Industrial, the ABC team are the people you want in your corner. After all, we listen to customer concerns and use our experience and knowledge in order to ensure that they purchase the right product for their needs.
