The short answer is yes they can and it is just a case of how far do you want to go? Of course shutters are a formidable physical barrier but they do have inherent weak spots which can make them easy to break into. For example, many small electric window shutters without locks can be lifted open with ease and access gained within seconds. So a continental with a locking top lath will over come this which actually locks the lath down, making it very difficult to lift the extruded aluminium curtain against the top lath. This is one instant where a continental aluminium window shutter can be more secure than an industrial shutter. We do not like to say ”if they want to get in, they will” we have installed roller shutters to problem sites where we know that a shutter will be tested the very same night. The fact is any shutter can be broken into, so the key is to take all the variables into account and do the best you can to slow them down and reduce the time they have.
